About Our Location
The historic Shackleton Museum is located in the heart of Athy town centre, housed in a beautiful 18th-century building. The museum celebrates the life and achievements of Ernest Shackleton, the renowned Antarctic explorer who was born nearby in County Kildare.
Getting to Athy:
- From Dublin: 1 hour via M7 (Junction 13)
- From Cork: 2 hours via M8 to M7
- Public Transport: Bus Éireann Route 126 from Dublin
- Nearest Train Station: Kildare (20km) with shuttle service available
